Our History
In 1994, three scientists and educators created a summer camp with the simple goal of creating fun, hands-on nature experiences for kids. The MOSS founders shared a vision that our lives are enriched when we have a greater understanding of our natural surroundings.
Today, MOSS operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves more than 6,000 students each year through year-round courses for all ages and backgrounds including outreach programs to 44 schools; 11 weeks of summer camps for over 1,000 students, and free family festivals that celebrate our natural resources. Donations made to MOSS are tax-deductible to the extent of the law.
