Lucy Kolpa
Lead Instructor
Lucy was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, spending her childhood frolicking in the Cascade Mountains with friends and family. She was fortunate to have had particularly inspiring science teachers who encouraged her to pursue a career in Natural Sciences. Lucy earned a B.S. in Environmental Biology from Occidental College, where studied the tropical ecology of the Costa Rican rainforest.
After graduation, Lucy worked as Environmental Educator, leading field trips for students of all ages throughout the Hudson Valley, showing them the natural phenomena happening in their own backyard. Through this experience, Lucy learned the importance of engaging her community with the local ecosystem and environmental issues. At MOSS Lucy hopes to promote ecological curiosity within her students so to help them develop awareness and care for the incredible ecosystems around us. When she’s not at work you can find Lucy in the mountains, skiing with friends or training for her next trail race. She also loves singing and dancing to live music and would love your local band recommendations!
