Shannon Baukol

Instructor

Shannon has loved the outdoors for as long as she can remember. Growing up, she spent her summers going to various outdoor camps and camping throughout the western states with her family. Winters were spent skiing in the Sierra Nevada mountains.

It came as no surprise to her family that when she graduated from high school, she chose to attend college in Montana and has lived here ever since. Shannon continues to spend as much of her spare time outdoors, whether hiking with her family and dogs, enjoying time on the water, soaking up the sun, riding her horses, and traveling whenever possible. In the wintertime, she can be found skiing – both downhill and cross-country.

Shannon received her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and has been a classroom teacher since 2010. She is a full-time sixth grade teacher in the beautiful Shields Valley. S

he was introduced to MOSS while at her previous school and was lucky enough to continue with MOSS when she began teaching at Shields Valley Elementary in 2021. Shannon believes kids learn best through hands-on experiences, and loves bringing such challenges into her classroom whenever possible. She recently wrote and was awarded a grant for her school to obtain STEM kits for all grades, providing all students the opportunity to be involved in science. Shannon’s love of all things science has led her to spend her summer as a MOSS instructor. She is excited to blend her love of teaching kids with her love of science and the outdoors.
